Elderberry Apple Shots
Click here to read all about our farm-made Elderberry Apple Shots -- only two ingredients: elderberries and apples.
Organic Maple Syrup
Click here to read all about our Certified Organic maple syrup. We believe that Certified Organic maple syrup is the best sweetener to accompany the elderberry and apple flavors. Not only is it untainted by pesticides and herbicides, but it has been made for centuries on this continent. Sadly, most honey cannot live up to the high standards we have set for your health.
Having raised bees and been active in our local beekeepers association, we know the work and skill that goes into raising healthy bees who do not forage on pesticide or herbicide-laden nectar sources. It is so difficult, and the market for "local" honey is so lucrative, that it is challenging to find enough honey from honest beekeepers. When we do have it, we add it to our Farm Honey and Syrups.
We tested 6 different types of gelatin for these gummies. The Fat Stone Farm gelatin in the Kit produces the *best* texture and is the *easiest* to work with. It is certified kosher by Kosher Supervisory Services, LLC under Rabbis David and Noah Sheinkopf. It is a bovine (beef) gelatin.
On the farm, in the spirit of not wasting our resources, and of ultimate respect for the animals we have raised and then consumed, bone broth and stock has been a staple for us for years. Gelatin is a close cousin of bone broth and stock and we would not go a winter season without it in the freezer!
Of course you are welcome to substitute your preferred gelatin brand, or with a vegan option such as agar. They may not substitute 1:1, and the final product will have a different texture. If you are not familiar with the vegan/vegetarian options for gelatin, please experiment first before making a batch of gummies with it.
After an extensive search, we selected the highest quality silicone trays we could find. We have been using silicone products for years here on the farm and believe they are worth the extra money as an improvement over plastic, metal, and rubber alternatives. We work with hot liquids here (think maple syrup, apple syrup), and constantly go the extra mile to find non-toxic, non-leaching, and 100% safe tools, equipment, and packaging materials. These trays are no exception. They are:
- Made in Italy
- Dishwasher, freezer, and oven-safe
- Reusable over and over
- 100% food-grade, “platinum” silicone
- Made to withstand temperatures from -76°F to 446°F
- Tested to meet FDA food safety regulations
- Compliant with European food safety standards
To keep them in great shape for many years to come, do NOT:
- Use the CRISP or GRILL function on the microwave with them
- Use knives or other sharp tools on them
- Place them on or near direct heat (flame, electric coils, grills)
- Wash them with scouring pads or harsh detergents
